How to report a data issue
GPFinder displays data from five official NHS and regulatory sources. While we update our data regularly, sometimes information can be outdated or incorrect at the source level. If you spot an issue, here's how to help us fix it quickly:
When you email us, please include:
- Practice name — the full name as shown on GPFinder
- ODS code — if you know it (shown on the practice page, e.g. E87746)
- What's incorrect — describe what needs to be updated
- Correct information — if you know the right details, please share them
Common data issues and how they're resolved
| Issue type | Source | How we fix it |
|---|---|---|
| Wrong address or phone number | NHS ODS | We update from the latest ODS extract; if it's wrong at source, we'll report to NHS Digital |
| Outdated CQC rating | CQC | CQC data updates weekly; if a new inspection has been published, we'll refresh the data |
| Incorrect patient survey results | GP Patient Survey | We cross-check against the official GPPS dataset and correct if needed |
| Wrong opening hours | Practice profile | Opening hours come from practice-reported data; we recommend also contacting the practice directly |
| Practice shows as open but has closed | NHS ODS | We'll flag the practice and verify its status in the next data update |
| "Accepting new patients" is wrong | Practice-reported data | This status changes frequently; we recommend confirming directly with the practice |
We investigate all reports and typically resolve data issues within 3–5 working days.
What GPFinder can help with
What GPFinder cannot help with
Information for GP practices
GPFinder displays publicly available data about GP practices in England, sourced from NHS Digital, CQC, and the GP Patient Survey — all published under the Open Government Licence v3.0.
If you manage a GP practice and would like to:
- Correct factual information — email us at data@gpfinder.co.uk with the ODS code and the correct details. We prioritise corrections from verified practice staff.
- Respond to a user review — we are developing a practice response feature. In the meantime, if you believe a review contains false or defamatory content, please email us with the specifics and we will review it promptly.
- Request removal of your practice listing — GPFinder displays publicly available data. However, if you have concerns, please contact us and we'll discuss the situation.
- Explore partnership opportunities — we are open to working with practices and Primary Care Networks to improve data accuracy and patient experience. Contact hello@gpfinder.co.uk.

Frequently asked questions
How quickly do you respond to emails?
We aim to respond to all enquiries within 48 hours on working days. Data issue reports may take 3–5 working days to investigate and resolve.
Is GPFinder affiliated with the NHS?
No. GPFinder is an independent service. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the NHS, CQC, or any government body. We use publicly available open data.
Can I advertise on GPFinder?
We do not currently accept advertising. If you have a partnership proposal, please email hello@gpfinder.co.uk with details.
I'm a journalist — can I use GPFinder data in my article?
GPFinder aggregates publicly available NHS data. You are welcome to reference our analysis and link to our site. For specific data requests or quotes, please email hello@gpfinder.co.uk.
I want to report a review that’s unfair or defamatory.
Please email us at hello@gpfinder.co.uk with the practice name, the approximate date of the review, and the reason you believe it should be reviewed. We assess all reports and may remove reviews that violate our guidelines.
Can you help me find a GP that speaks my language?
We don't currently have data on languages spoken at practices, but this is a feature we're looking to add. In the meantime, you can check individual practice websites or call them directly.
Why is the data on GPFinder different from what I see on the CQC/NHS website?
Data update frequencies vary between sources. CQC data updates weekly, patient survey data annually (July), and workforce data monthly. There may be short delays between a source being updated and GPFinder reflecting the change. If you spot a significant discrepancy, please report it.
